Need to figure some things out
I was watching the Welcome Home club reveal tonight and I realized something that I knew but had forgotten. I love to make things. I love, love, love to make things. She had a fox showstopper and it is absolutely gorgeous. I want to make one. I want to make things. I want to design also and then make them. So I'm going to need to come up with a balance in order to get things done that I want to do. I also feel the need to get back out to shows. BUT I need to work on my Etsy shop and I need to get my Shopify store up and running. I need to make social media a priority and make sure I'm getting things out there. So what's the best way to tackle this? Working on my shops and social media I can work on during the evenings when I'm watching TV. Social media stuff is perfect for TV watching. For the stores I need to have a schedule of new things to add regularly. So do I devote days to different things? Do I devote hours to different things? What to do, what to do?
Started this last night but got sidetracked. Now it is Saturday morning and I still haven't figured anything out. Since I have limited time during the week, I'm guessing working on my stores and social media is the best for that. Weekends will be reserved for actually making things. But, and this is a big but, I can't just cut things. I actually have to get them finished and photographed so that I can work on getting them posted in my stores during the week. That actually sounds like a reasonable plan. Friday, Saturday, and Sundays I make things. Monday - Thursday I write about the things I make. I can also work on designs during the week and test them on the weekends. That actually sounds like a reasonable plan. I hate the feeling of not knowing what to do. I need a plan. So that will be my plan. I have a little undated weekly planner that I think I will devote to tracking what I need to do on what days. And I only have to do this for 2 weeks then I'm on break for 2 weeks. I do need to get things ready for the new year. I'm hitting the ground running. Of course, I just read a few things over this week that has scared the piss out of me. The first one is the a lady who got so busy and so many orders she had to turn on vacation mode just to catch up. The second was a guy who's product went viral on TikTok and he got 6,800 orders in a couple of days. It's things like that that I am afraid of. I'm so scared something will happen that I can't keep up with. I mean seriously, what if I get 10 orders of something? I know that I can control how many I have with my inventory, but what if I get 10 orders of 10 different things? I would be snowed under and completely freaking out. The only thing that can save me is my shipping time. All of my orders are going to have at least a 5-7 day lead time because they are all made to order. Okay, I can live with that. I just won't allow 6,800 orders to come in, that's all.
Okay, enough about this nonsense. I'm going to do a little bit of an inventory to see what I have in progress and can finish up. Then I'm going to figure out what I can cut and work on this weekend. While these things are cutting/drying/etc. I will work on my courses and learning things. Okay, I'm ready to roll.
