Another weekend, another show
Today is the Artisan Treasures show in Surprise. This show is a bit of a risk for a couple of reasons. First, it's all the way in Surprise - that's almost an hour away. So it's quite a distance to travel with all the stuff. Second, it's a huge show. Huge. This could be good or bad and there is no way to tell until we do it. It could be good because there will be 1,000s of people there. It's after Thanksgiving, people are really ready to focus on Christmas and they are ready to spend money. So it really could turn out to be a great show. It could be bad because there are hundreds of vendors and it is possible to get lost in all those choice. So, I'm hoping for the best. I would very much like to make a decent amount of money today, like $2,000. That would make me very, very happy. But we shall see.
A lot of the buying has to do with me. I don't make small talk well. I just don't. And convincing people to buy things is not my strong suit. So I need to suck it up and just do it. I'm going to work really hard at it today. I'm going to compliment people on the things they have. I'm going to talk about the weather. I'm going to talk about my stuff. I will ask them questions. I will try very, very hard at this. Hubby does it so effortlessly, I envy him that. But, this is something I can learn so I'm going to work very hard at learning it.
I'm also going to keep track of my sales today. I haven't been doing that and just kind of guessing what I have made. Time to be a grown up and keep track of the sales. I can reconstruct a lot of it based on the credit card receipts, I ignore cash sales. But I need to keep track not only for taxes but for inventory purposes. There is 2 weeks between shows this time so I have time to restock my inventory if necessary.
Okay, time to get moving. Thankfully the van is all packed up and it's just a matter of loading the electronic equipment. This time I have to make sure to bring my computer. Ugh!!! Wish me luck.
