Habit building/Habit stacking

I've been thinking about what I wrote earlier most of the day. I need to create some different habits and I've been dwelling on how to go about doing that. One of the ways to do that is habit stacking. If you have a habit of doing something and want to start a new habit, add the new thing to the one you already do. For example, I'm thinking of switching up my blogging time from morning to evening and using the morning time to get a quick workout in. So I have the habit of meditation and I stacked the habit of blogging onto that, well now I want to switch out another habit for the blogging and stack it with the meditation. But I have to be careful because I don't want to lose the blogging. So I'm trying to come up with a habit to stack that onto. My evening routine looks like  this:

  • eat dinner
  • lay on the couch, color, and watch TV
  • clean the kitchen
  • give the kids pills and biscuits
  • Miscellaneous stuff
  • Reading before bed - not always but I try

That is all that is always the same. Always. After that it varies somewhat. I could do my PT after pills and biscuits and then do my blogging after that. Then I could read for 20ish minutes and head to bed. If I did the kitchen at 7pm I would be done with pills and everything by 7:30. Then PT takes about 30-40 minutes. Then 10 minutes of blogging, capped off with 20 minutes of reading. I could be in bed by 8:30 - 8:45. That would work. If I'm asleep by 9pm I'm generally good - providing that Bella doesn't get up 3 times during the night.

Okay, that sounds like a reasonable plan. I'm going to give it a go tonight and see how it works out. I generally come in here to put my phone and watch on the charger after PT and end up scrolling for 30 minutes, I will just need to keep away from the scrolling. Yeah, I think I'll give it a try tonight and see how it works out. I can blog on my teacher blog, I have some things to say about school. Okay, it's a date. I'm out.

Later that night:
Well, I've decided to just add on to this post for my trial run. I just finished Day 2 of the hip opener challenge. I was near the end of that challenge when I injured my knee and every time I tried to go back to it, it would hurt my knee. Now that my knee is almost 100%, I'm giving it another try. I'm going to do my PT during at the gym, at least on the weekends, and that leaves me time for the hip openers. I really like that challenge and was feeling so good with it before I hurt myself. That's okay, I'll get there.

I did take Mavy for his first walk today. I'm not sure how long it's been since he's walked, but he's been limping and carrying his leg, so I laying off the walking. Today we made a circuit of the block and he did great. Didn't limp the whole walk. He has limped a couple times since we got back, but it seems to be mainly when he gets up from laying down. Hopefully he'll be okay tomorrow for another stroll around the block.

I had really wanted to hike this weekend, but I'm not sure that is going to happen. Tomorrow our new furniture gets delivered. Early. That leaves only Sunday and we are going to spend some time with some friends and so I don't know exactly what's going to happen that day either. So I will see. If not this weekend, next.

So my Whoop is working amazingly well now that it's not on my tattoo. It's kind of cool to see how much strain I'm putting on my body in real time. It also shows how much recovery I have and how good my sleep was. Once it collects 4 days of data, it can start predicting things. I can't wait for that.

I have nothing more to say and 2 and a half minutes to say it in. Awesome!!! Well, this is a good routine if I do the hip opener. That only takes 15 minutes where PT takes 30-40 minutes. The hip opener leaves plenty of time for everything else.

Too too toot toot....... nothing to say or see here. Thought my stomach growled, but I was so full at dinner that is just not possible. Is it?  I do know that when I am training and working out, I can almost feel my body digesting my food. I will eat, get full and feel like I can't eat another bite, and two hours later be ready to eat again. It's crazy. That's how I know I'm doing the right thing.

Okay, the tree finally grew. I'm out.
