Sometimes I need to be hit with a brick

My knee has been bothering me for a few weeks now. It is the right knee that has no cartilage in it, which is a little disconcerting. But, there is no real pain. It just feels a little swollen. When I bend it, it feels like there is some fluid in there and I can't bend it all the way. But no pain. So I've been going on with my life as normal because I figured if something was wrong I would feel pain.

Crossfit is real big on mobility and they just started selling this book for cheap:

I bought it and have been reading it. Well, I came across a statement in there that basically said, if you are having problems with a joint look downstream or upstream. Okay, that made sense to me. So I sat on night and mashed my calves with a rolling pin without too much problems. Then I put the rolling pin on my quad and nearly went through the roof. Clearly I had found the problem, my quad was extremely tight. I worked on it a little bit every night for a couple of nights until it felt better. Then my knee started to feel better. Hmmmm...cause and effect??? But it wasn't gone completely. I had stopped mashing it when it no long hurt, but I could not bend it without feeling stretching in the quad. I think I was still tight. Then this morning, I'm reading Facebook and come across an article on knee pain. I go to read it, and what does it tell me to do? Stretch my quad. Hello!!! I do believe that the universe has sent me a sign and I need to stop ignoring it. So starting today, I will stretch my quad every morning and every night and after every workout. I need to get this knee back to functioning properly. If that doesn't fix it by the end of June, I will go and see a doctor in July. I haven't continued with my running and this has been part of the problem. So I will give it a couple of weeks and see what happens.

In other news, I'm off to go shopping today. I have a ton of things I need to get including large dog beds. Seems my little terror has decided to tear apart the last dog bed. Time for some new ones. I wish they made them chew proof :)
