My first full week

Image
I started WW on a Tuesday so last week wasn't really a full week. This week is my first full week and I tracked every single day, even when it got really ugly. I saw another blogger do this and I really liked it so here is my week: I like this. I'll be able to look back and see how the weeks went. This week was pretty good. Wednesday was high because we went out to Chinese food with some friends. Thursday was high because I decided to treat myself after weighing in. Today was a little high because I did DDR for 2 hours. Yikes!!! So overall a very successful week and I'm happy. Here's to a good next week.

3 pounds

that's what I lost this week and I am happy about it.  I stuck to the program, which wasn't that hard really, and I tried to keep active and it paid off.  Some things I noticed this week.  I did not have dessert any day and I lived.  Amazing.  I ate smaller portions and I totally survived.  Awesome.  I stuck to healthy foods and felt full and satisfied.  Wow, who knew?  Seriously it was a great week and I plan to have another.  I plan on getting my 5 lb star next week.  I'm pleased with myself.  I did not run yesterday and that bothers me.  In fact, I didn't do much of anything yesterday.  I did spend some time online looking at wall sconces but that was about it. Looking at my calendar though, I've done some activity every single day this year so far. I like that. Even yesterday we walked the dogs - in fact, we walked them to the vets office. So that was longer than normal. So yeah, I'm happy. Going to do it again next week.

I may be slow

but I AM MY OWN SUPERHERO .  I went for a run this morning.  Quite honestly the "running" I've been doing this break has been a lot more walking. And a lot of putting it off.  I was finally honest with myself and realized that if I want to "run" races I actually need to get out there and run.  So I began Hal Higdon's Half Marathon training program today.  On the schedule was a 3 mile run.  So I went out and ran.  It was hard and I am slow but I did it.  This Sunday is a 5k race that I would love to do only to break the ice so to speak.  I have not done a local race in years and the first one is going to be scary (yeah, I'm weird that way).  I did 3 miles today in 50 minutes, by Sunday I should be able to do it in 40-45.  That is at least reasonable.  I know there will be walkers slower than that - there always are.  So I may do it just to start the ball rolling again.  I may be slow but at least I'm out there doing it.

Today the work begins

So it's easy to make all these grand declarations over the holiday and/or weekend.  But now it's Monday and it's time to really knuckle down.  I have it a bit easier than most in that I don't return to work until next Monday, but life is quickly setting in for me.  I have a bunch of things I need to get done before next Monday.  I have a whole lot of things I put off for the last 2 weeks because of the "holidays."  Well, they are now officially over. Time to get moving again.  Well, I have been moving my body but not other things :)  I know exactly what I want to accomplish this year, fitness wise, I need to come up with a plan.  A good plan.  I need to have iron clad routines and contingency plans in place so that nothing detracts me from my ultimate goal. Fitness. There's a lot of looking towards the end of the year going around in blog world.  Looking at the end of 2011 and thinking where you want to be, what you want to be able to say about the year.

Discovery

I went for a bike ride today for the first time in a really, really, really long time.  It has to be at least a year since I rode. When I don't ride for a long time I get really nervous about riding.  I'm not exactly sure why, but I do.  My friends weren't feeling good and ended up not going, but I was there and decided I was going to do a short one anyway.  We met at Kailua Beach park so I thought I'd just do the Lanikai Loop.  It's a short loop with some hills and a really popular route for biking, running, dog walking, etc. So I thought that would be a great way to ease back into it.  After I did that I felt so good I decided to continue riding.  I headed down Kalaheo towards the Marine Base.  This is the route of a triathlon and it's flat and fast and fun.  It also goes right by the house where President Obama and his family are spending the Christmas holidays. Oh joy!  I did not get to see him but I did get to see some crazy sign wavers.  They had signs abo
