A couple of things I've learned this week....

Getting up at 4:30 in the morning actually does become easier if you keep doing it.  As does working out.  I've been getting up at 4:30 and working out and then working out when I come home in the afternoons.  It works.

Working out and eating right actually increase your energy.  I'm not exhausted at 9 pm every night.  I'm actually able to stay up until 9:30 and still get up at 4:30 :)

Good sleep is much better then more sleep.  Because of the eating right/working out I'm sleeping a lot better at night.  I fall asleep faster and sleep much deeper.  That seems to do more good then staying in bed for an extra half hour.

Small amounts of food are really all that's needed. I've been packing light lunches because I'm trying to cut the calories back and they are completly satisfing.  On Monday I cut up an apple to take to work.  Around 3 I got a little hungry and knew I would be working out when I got home so I ate 2 of the apple slices.  That was plenty.  Yesterday I took the remaining apple to work and ate 2 slices at 3 pm.  It was perfect. Today I got hungry between classes.  2 slices were plenty to hold me until lunch.  A little food is really all I need.

So there you have it.  Things I've learned this week.  It might not be as thorough as an employee background check but it's definitely steps in the right direction.

I couldn't agree more with what your saying- it's a good lesson to learn and prove to yourself. In the last few years of my life I've gone through a constant cycle of being active and then not. Every time I'm active I eat more regulary and take more pride in eating the right things; I have no choice but to go to bed at the right time because I'm shattered; and because of the above I wake up the next day ready to be anything but lazy. The only time I snap out of the habit is in a moment of lighting the 'bad habit candle' which I find hard to blow out. I keep practicing though and I'm getting better and better at keeping that candle unlite and tucked away in a draw! Exercise and not eating junk food is the way forward people!
