This will probably make no sense to anyone but me but I've got to get it off my chest. Names have been changed to protect the guilty.
People!!!! If you're old enough you can remember home movies. Your parents took them on vacations and such and then forced you to watch them over and over and over and ov.....
In the worst case scenerio you had to watch other peoples home movies. This was a fate worse than death. These were the times when you wanted to slit your wrists with the Jiffy-Pop aluminum pan. You would dream of sharpening your little plastic spoon into a deadly shank and stabbing these people in the eyes. It was horrible. I never thought I'd see anything as bad as home movies. I. was. wrong.
Podcasts have become the home movies of the new millenium. I came across one today that made me want to poke sharp objects in my ears till they bled. In excruciating detail this person covered their vacation. The audio was bad much of the time. It involved people noone but he knew or cared about. I think his blog even has pictures. Lord, spare me.
I listen to a number of podcasts and they all talk about personal stuff to some extent. They cover things these people did - interesting things. I like to hear a little about other peoples lives. I do not need a play by play of your day. I don't need to hear an hour about your car trip. Trust me, car trips are not that interesting. People laughing and giggling so you could hardly understand them about jokes only they got.
It was 2 hours of my life I'll never get back, and I mourn the lose. You may ask why I listened so long. The truth is, I didn't. I shut it off 1/2 way through. Yes, it was longer. Also, it's kind of like watching a really bad movie; you keep hoping it will get better. It didn't.
I'm not naming names because that would be cruel. But I am instituting a firm rule, I will listen to no podcast over 1 hour long.
Okay, I'm done.
