Thank god this week is over!!

It's been one of those weeks that go on and on and on and on and on........... I bounced out of bed this morning so freaking happy it was Friday my husband couldn't stand it. It's been kind of slow around the lab here and I haven't felt like working. All this led to a very long week. It has given me time though to plan my race schedule for next year. This year was plagued with injuries and I didn't get to do all I wanted to do. But next year will be different. I will do a number of sprints all leading up to: Just thinking about attempting a half ironman is so exciting I can hardly contain myself. I'm already talking with a coach and getting a plan together. I will focus on my marathon training till the marathon, Dec 11, then I will take a couple of weeks off for vacation. When I return in January it will be right into training. Wow!! Who would have ever thought I would attempt that??? I'm really excited. Well, I do have some stinking paperwork to do. Ma...

It's Wednesday and it's really quiet around here.

Wednesday's are usuallly our busiest day but it's really quiet today. Not that I'm complaining, it gives me time to do personal stuff :) Things are going well on the exercise and eating front. Last night was WW weigh-in and I was up .4 lbs, but I'm not letting it get to me since it's probably PMS!!!!! I must say I did track my food exceptionally well last week and I know where my problem lies and why I'm not losing weight. WW gives you a point limit everyday (points are calculated using calories, fat calories, and fiber grams of a food) plus additional weekly points to use. So I have 22 points a day plus 35 a week I can use anyway I want to. Also, you can earn points by doing exercise. So for a week I get 189 points plus I generally earn 4 activity points a day for a total of 217 points a week. Last week I really watched what I ate but still ate fairly normally and I was like 20 over for the week. Do you think this could be why I'm not losing any weig...

Okay, it's time for a change

Ever since I wrote my race report yesterday I've been mulling things around in my head. Why did it happen like that?? What could I have done differently?? Am I going to be ready to do a marathon in 8 weeks???? Etc...etc...etc..... And while many of these can be answered with better nutrition and more awareness on food/hydration, there was something missing. I have finally realized what it is - It's me!! I have not been putting my heart into this whole process. I have only been going through the motions - phoning in my workouts!! Okay, considering the total and complete lethargy that engulfed me just a few weeks ago, I should be happy I was doing anything. But that's it; it's over. I have some very specific goals and if I'm going to reach any of them I have got to get on the stick and work at it. Tonight after marathon training, I'm going to sit down and plan my workouts in much greater detail. It's going to require hard work and dedication but I think I'...

My first DNF :(

I've got to get this race report down so I a) don't chicken out; b) conviently forget what happened; and c) not learn from the mistakes I made today. Okay, let's begin this puppy yesterday. I got up and was feeling great. It was a beautiful day and so I decided to go for a bike ride. I did an easy 20 miles and just really enjoyed a gorgeous day. Got home to find the electrician working on our exterior lighting. Since the hubby and I had plans to go out for breakfast I hadn't eaten anything yet and was getting hungry. Plans were quickly altered to lunch and I grabbed a yogurt and hit the showers. After the electrician left we headed out. I had to go into work for an hour so we did that first. Then it was off to packet pick-up and lunch. By the time we actually got to the restaurant it was 1:30pm and all I'd had all day was a banana and a yogurt - I was starving. A big fat cheesburger, seasoned fries, and a beer later and I was much better, although this would t...
