It'a a Moluccan free zone today....

Tatu, the Moluccan Cockatoo, has the day off today so it's very quiet in the lab. In fact, I'm the only person here right now. As you might guess, I reallyl don't feel like working it being Friday and all!!! One thing though, without Tatu it's much quieter in here. You would not believe the amount of noise a 1.5 lb bird can make.......

Just a quick one tonight.

Marathon training group was tonight. I did not feel like going but forced myself. When we first started running I felt miserable and thought I wouldn't make it. But after a few minutes I started feeling better and started really moving. I should note here that we are not a fast group. We are running about 13-14 minute miles. That will change as we progress but we are starting really slow. Since I tend to run faster as the run goes on I tend to lead the pack and many times end up running alone. So we did 4.9 miles in 72 minutes. We were all feeling crappy and didn't want to run but were glad we did when we were done. So, another training run down. Slowly starting the build up to the marathon!!!!!

See what happens when I don't exercise in the morning??

This is what Chinaman's Hat looked like when I started my walk at 5:45 a.m. This was a few minutes later around 6:00 a.m. And this is after sunrise at 6:10 a.m. I love living here because you can see the rain in the distance over the ocean. This was during sunrise and off to the left you can see the rain falling. Okay, that's enough of the photos. Last night was my marathon training group. We went for an 80 minute LSD run (being a child of the 60's & 70's I can't help thinking of drugs whenever I see that :) It's really fun to run with a group. I can't believe I've been avoiding it all these years. Anyway, we ran from downtown Kailua and around the Lanikai loop and back which it turns out is 5.6 miles. Not too shabby. I was really tired from the weekend so by the time I was done I was really pooped. Tonight it's early to bed for me.

Some Random Thoughts and then a race report.

My comments aren't working. Not sure exactly what happened. Got to try and get that fixed. I didn't update my schedule for last week. Oh well, didn't do much so I guess it doesn't matter. Will update it for this week. Why do I schedule things for 1 weekend and then end up wiped out by the end of the weekend?? Why do I love naps so much lately?? Okay, enough. Today was the Na Wahine Sprint Triathlon. I really don't want to report on it as I was very dissappointed in my performance. But I must use this as a learning experience and move on from here. So this actually begins yesterday, Saturday. Actually, this report should start last week when I laid in bed more mornings than not and only walked the dogs for exercise. But I'll start with yesterday. It was my first saturday marathon training group. We had to meet at 6:30a.m. which means me getting up at 4:30a. m. since I live so bloody far away from everything. So I go and we spend the next 2 hours running around
